The penthouse apartment is located next to the popular Mijas Golf course and just a few kilometres from the western outskirts of Fuengirola with immediate access to the coastal highway and Mijas Costa. The whole area from Fuengirola to Mijas Costa that inlcudes Calahonda, Miraflores and Riviera del Sol make an ideal destination fro people looking for a family holiday.

Mijas Costa
Cala Mijas is the first beach of an extensive sandbank formed by three beaches. Torrevieja Beach, also called La Butibamba Beach, extends up to Cala Mijas Beach

Calahonda
It is the beach Calahonda that gives the name to the urban development that stays in the opposite side of the highway N-340.

Cabopino
An old fortified watchtower still stands proudly by the sand dunes alongside the beach. From its priviledged position it is possible to see all along the coast to Marbella and Gibraltar and Africa beyond, a spectacular backdrop for a spectacular beach. Cabopino is well sheltered and protected from the elements, and artificial reefs on either side of the beach keep the waves and wind at bay. Lifeguards - on duty throughout the summer - combined with the beach's gentle slope into the sea, make Cabopino child-friendly and safe. The sand is well maintained, clean and of a superior quality to other beaches along the Costa del Sol, making Cabopino the ideal place for the child in all of us to build our very own sandcastle in the sun. Chiringitos (beachside bars and restaurants) are plentiful here and are renowned for their excellent quality. Costa del Sol residents come from far and wide to sample Cabopino's specialty, superb seafood at prices that won't break the bank.

Fuengirola
Fuengirola is with seven kilometres of beautifully kept white sandy beaches and one of the longest promenades on the Costa del Sol. Fuengirola is a paradise for sun worshippers and water sports enthusiasts.
The coastal town offers a wealth of facilities and entertainment including a zoo and water fun park . It has one of the most popular markets on the coast every Tuesday attracting regular visitors from other neighbouring towns and villages. It is also the last stop west on the coastal train route that takes you directly to the airport and the centre of Malaga. A fabulous Parque Miramar shopping centre and multi -screen cinema has just been completed on the outskirts of the town which is the second largest mall on the coast. Within a short walking distance across the bridge is the popular Dunnes store with a large selection of English brand food and clothing in UK sizes.

Mijas Pueblo
Mijas known as the White Village, is situated in the foothills of the Cordón Montañoso del Litoral (Coastal Mountain Range), one of the most typical examples of the pretty mountain town in Andalucía, with views over much of the Costa del Sol. The municipal loc covers almost 140 square kilometers, from the mountains down to the sea, surrounding the municipality of Fuengriola
The urban areas of Mijas are Mijas Pueblo, Las Lagunas and La Cala de Mijas. In the first we find the old part of the town with its Town Hall, its historic buildings and its whitewashed houses. Las Lagunas is where most of the services and housing developments are situated, as in La Cala de Mijas

Golf

Mijas Golf
There are two popular 18 hole courses located here, Los Olivos and Los Lagos

Los Olivos
Designed by Robert Trent Senior, the main feature which distinguishes this course from The Lakes is the abundance of trees – hence the name – and its smaller size, as well as fewer water hazards. The greens are smaller, undulating and well defended. Although both are the work of the same designer, there is no doubt there are interesting contrasts between the two courses: if Los Lagos are based on hazards of water and sand, Los Olivos is strategic narrow tree lined fairways and elevated greens.
Los Olivos is a course best suited for players gifted with a higher technical ability and precision in their game.

Los Lagos
With its 6,367 metres, this course is the longer of the two which comprise of Mijas Golf. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior, Los Lagos is a ground course with wide fairways and a few forest trees obstacles, but is defended by many bunkers and nine lakes, from which the course gets its name and which easily trap the ball. It is a course with soft movement and large greens. It could be said that the American designer wanted to present a course especially for amateurs, but at the same time, it can present a challenge for the best players.
Los Lagos is a course suitable for players with a large, strong swing, but it also demands great concentration to avoid the obstacles.

Cabopino Club de Golf
A very modern eighteen-hole golf course - par 71. It has spectacular views of the sea and the Costa del Sol

Club de Golf la Siesta
This course is close to the residential area of Calahonda. It is a fairly short course, but the levels vary substantially from tee to green. The distance from the tees to the green varies considerably, and although it is a short course, ideal for short play, you have the sensation that you are playing on a much bigger ground. The course is not too difficult. You can use a wood to reach the green of the 7th. There are wonderful views of the Mediterranean Sea from the 9th hole.

La Cala Golf
The two golf courses at La Cala are the main attraction of the resort. Both, La Cala North (Par 73) and La Cala South (Par 72) have been designed by North American architect Cabell B. Robinson. La Cala Resort is an exclusive residential and recreational complex of approximately 1,000 acres situated between the 'Sierra de Mijas' National Park and the Mediterranean. Located 15 mins drive from our apartment.

Miraflores Golf
Some recent major repairs have improved the course. The new design has two lakes which make it easier to reach the 11th hole. Two raised tees have been built for the 14th hole which have made it into something special.
Driving Range:
Situated away from the main clubhouse and buildings. In fact it is located at the top of the Avenida del Golf, where you take a left onto the Avenida Esmerelda. You then cannot miss it on the left-hand side of the road. It is sign posted.

The Club del Sol has four brand new squash courts, is open 7 days a week. Coaching lessons for both children and adults are available and the centre also has a gym, http://www.tenniscostadelsol.com
